Jamie Lee Curtis Confirms ‘Murder, She Wrote’ Reboot at “Freakier Friday” Premiere

Los Angeles, Sept. 2, 2025 - Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis surprised fans at the Los Angeles premiere of her new comedy sequel, Freakier Friday, by officially announcing that the long-awaited reboot of the classic television mystery series Murder, She Wrote is moving forward in 2025. During the red-carpet event, Curtis teased, “Oh, it’s… happening,” before playfully cautioning she was “tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting”.

Curtis, 66, reprised her role as Tess Coleman in Freakier Friday, which hit theaters nationwide on August 8. The film follows Tess and her daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan) as they navigate a second body-swap adventure, this time spanning two generations. Despite juggling multiple upcoming projects, Curtis made clear that stepping into Angela Lansbury’s shoes as mystery novelist Jessica Fletcher remains a top priority.

Freakier Friday continues its theatrical run today, Sept. 2, with showtimes at 10:45 am, 1:35 pm, 4:30 pm, 7:15 pm, and 10:25 pm across major cinemas nationwide.
