Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $1.3 Billion; Michigan Lottery Player Scores $1 Million

DETROIT - The Powerball jackpot surged to an estimated $1.30 billion after no ticket matched all six numbers in Monday’s drawing. With a cash option of $589.0 million before taxes, the prize now ranks as the fifth-largest in Powerball history and the ninth-largest among all U.S. lottery jackpots.

The winning numbers in the drawing were 8, 23, 25, 40 and 53, with a red Powerball of 5. While the grand prize remains unclaimed, ten tickets nationwide matched all five white balls to win $1 million each. Among those fortunate players was a ticket sold in Michigan, marking one of the state’s top prizes in this roll-over streak.

Players may choose between 30 annual payments, increasing 5 percent each year, or the immediate cash option. Powerball drawings occur every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Tickets are available at authorized retailers across Michigan until 9:45 p.m. on drawing nights and online at MichiganLottery.com.
