Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $1.3 Billion After Monday’s Drawing

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Powerball drawing held Monday evening produced no jackpot winner, causing the top prize to soar to an estimated $1.30 billion for Wednesday night’s game. The numbers drawn on September 1 were 08 · 23 · 25 · 40 · 53 and the red Powerball 5, with a Power Play multiplier of 3.

Although no ticket matched all six numbers, ten players nationwide matched the five white balls to each win $1 million. Two of those million-dollar tickets were sold in New Jersey. Additionally, two players in Montana and North Carolina who purchased the Power Play option boosted their million-dollar prizes to $2 million. Across the country, 124 tickets won $50,000 and 25 tickets won $150,000.

If the jackpot is won on Wednesday, the victor may choose between the $1.30 billion annuitized prize-paid as an immediate installment followed by 29 annual payments increasing by 5% each year-or a lump-sum cash payment of $589 million, both before taxes.

Powerball tickets cost $2 and are available in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings occur every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. ET. The next drawing is scheduled for Wednesday, September 3.
