U.S. Postal Service Resumes Normal Operations Following Labor Day Holiday

September 2, 2025 - After the annual Labor Day observance, the United States Postal Service (USPS) returned to regular retail, delivery, and collection schedules today. All post office branches reopened at their standard hours and curbside mail processing resumed nationwide.
At the Anaheim Canyon facility in Orange County, which closed on August 29 due to a lease loss, customers with P.O. Boxes were notified that beginning today they may retrieve mail at the nearby Anaheim Hills Post Office at 5505 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road. Street delivery services were uninterrupted by the closure.
In Washington, D.C., the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) released the results of a bipartisan survey showing that a strong majority of Americans continue to oppose privatization of the USPS. The union emphasized that public ownership remains critical to ensuring affordable mail service across urban and rural communities.
Meanwhile, USPS employees nationwide were invited to participate in a voluntary “Health Topics and Prevention for Men and Women” webinar, held today from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Eastern. Hosted in partnership with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, the session covered life‐stage health risks and wellness strategies. Nonexempt staff were encouraged to join during authorized breaks or off the clock.
