Sony Unveils First Trailer for “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple”

Sony Pictures released the inaugural trailer today for Nia DaCosta’s highly anticipated sequel “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” continuing the saga that began with Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later.”
In a chilling glimpse, Dr. Kelson (Ralph Fiennes) navigates a devastated England as he forges an unsettling new bond that threatens to reshape the post-apocalyptic world, while Spike’s (Alfie Williams) encounter with cult leader Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell) descends into a nightmare few will escape.
According to the official synopsis, in this chapter “the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival-the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying”. The trailer also confirms that Cillian Murphy will briefly reprise his role as Jim, executive producing the sequel before taking on a larger part in the franchise’s third installment.
DaCosta’s follow-up picks up directly after the events of “28 Years Later” (released June 20, 2025), and was shot back-to-back with its predecessor. Screenwriter Alex Garland returns to craft the script, while Boyle, Garland, Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, and Bernie Bellew produce under Columbia and DNA Films.
“28 Years Later: The Bone Temple” is slated to premiere in theaters on January 16, 2026.
