Body Discovered in Search for Missing Teen Dacara Thompson

Prince George’s County, MD - Authorities investigating the disappearance of 19-year-old Dacara Thompson announced today that a female’s body was found in Anne Arundel County and may be connected to her case. The discovery comes amid an active missing person investigation launched after Thompson failed to return home on August 22.

The Maryland State Police located a body in a grassy area off Route 50 near Annapolis late Sunday afternoon, prompting a joint inquiry with the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD). Officials emphasized that while the characteristics of the remains are similar to those of Thompson, formal identification has not yet been made. Autopsy results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are pending to determine both identity and cause of death.

Prince George’s County Interim Police Chief George Nader stated at a Wednesday press conference that investigators “have not yet confirmed that this is the missing,” and stressed the department’s commitment to resolving the case. County Executive Aisha Braveboy added, “Even though, technically, she’s an adult, she’s someone’s child-someone’s baby. Our heart goes out to her entire family”. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information related to Thompson’s disappearance or the body found off Route 50 to contact the PGPD’s Crime Solvers tip line at 1-866-411-TIPS.
