Powerball Ticket Price Remains $2 as Jackpot Hits Record Heights

Sept. 3, 2025 - Lottery officials confirmed today that a standard Powerball ticket continues to cost $2, even as the jackpot swells to an estimated $1.4 billion for tonight’s drawing. The cash-option value of the jackpot stands at approximately $634.3 million.

In addition to the base $2 play, participants may opt for the Power Play add-on for an extra $1, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or, when the jackpot annuity is $150 million or less, 10x. Power Play does not affect the grand prize.

Drawings occur weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Despite the escalating jackpot-the fourth-largest in Powerball history-the ticket price has not changed since 2015, when two dollars per play became the standard rate. Lottery officials attribute ongoing strong sales to the game’s continued popularity and the allure of multi-hundred-million-dollar jackpots.

Tonight’s drawing will mark the 41st consecutive Powerball drawing since the last jackpot win on May 31, one shy of the all-time record of 42 without a winner. With odds of winning the jackpot remaining 1 in 292.2 million, ticket sales have surged in recent days as players chase the historic prize.
