ROCKET CITY NAMED HOME TO U.S. SPACE COMMAND HUNTSVILLE-President Donald Trump announced yesterday that Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville will become the permanent headquarters for U.S. Space Command, reversing a previous decision to keep the command in Colorado. The move is expected to transition approximately 1,400 jobs to the region over the next five years, with local and state officials hailing the decision as a major economic and strategic victory for North Alabama. Mayor Tommy Battle highlighted Huntsville’s decades-long investment in infrastructure, schools, and quality-of-life projects-totaling more than $1.3 billion-that readied the area for this designation. U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell praised the announcement as a boost to both national security and Alabama’s workforce, noting the city’s historic role in space and missile development.
