No New Developments in the Luigi Mangione Case on September 3, 2025

New York, Sept. 3, 2025 - There were no public filings, court hearings, or major motions filed today in any of the three jurisdictions in which Luigi Mangione faces charges for the December 4, 2024, killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione remains held without bail in federal custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn and continues to await trial in:
- New York State - 11 counts including first-degree murder, murder in furtherance of terrorism, weapons and forgery offenses; next scheduled appearance: September 16, 2025, in Manhattan Supreme Court, Part 32.
- U.S. Federal Court - four counts including murder through use of a firearm (death-eligible), firearms violation, and stalking; next scheduled appearance: December 5, 2025, in the Southern District of New York.
- Pennsylvania State - charges including unlawful firearms possession, forgery, and false identification; no hearing date yet set.
His defense team has been engaged in pretrial motions across all three jurisdictions, including motions to block the death-penalty request and to suppress evidence obtained from medical-record subpoenas. Supporters of Mangione continue to follow the case closely, but there were no public court-related developments on September 3.
