Montell Jordan Updates: Clarification, Ambassador Role, and Treatment Plan

NEW YORK, Sept. 3, 2025 - Grammy Award-winning singer Montell Jordan issued a series of personal updates today regarding his ongoing battle with prostate cancer.

In an exclusive interview with TMZ, Jordan corrected widespread reports suggesting he had been cancer-free for a full year. Eighteen months after his prostatectomy, he emphasized that he remains in active recovery, undergoing regular tests and screenings. “I’m not on the other side yet,” Jordan said, urging men to prioritize early detection during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Also today, Jordan announced a new partnership with the nonprofit ZERO Prostate Cancer. As the organization’s Global Ambassador, he will share his full journey in an upcoming documentary titled Sustain, host screening events during his 30th Anniversary tour next year, and lend his voice to public service campaigns aimed at encouraging men-particularly Black men at higher risk-to get screened.

Meanwhile, in an interview on Today, Jordan disclosed that follow-up exams revealed remaining cancer cells in his prostate bed and nearby lymph nodes, upgrading his diagnosis to Stage 2. He plans to undergo proton radiation therapy five days a week for seven-and-a-half weeks, alongside hormone blockers to suppress testosterone. “It’s a 7½-week interruption of life to make sure that I have a longer life,” he said, crediting early detection for providing treatment options and hope.
