MrBeast Stars in NFL Promo, Teases “Buying” the League Ahead of First Free YouTube Broadcast

NEW YORK (September 3, 2025) - YouTube’s top creator MrBeast teamed up with the NFL on Wednesday to roll out a pair of eye-catching promotional spots, teasing his hypothetical purchase of the league and hyping the first-ever free live NFL game broadcast on YouTube.
In a video released on YouTube’s official blog, titled “What if MrBeast bought the NFL?”, Jimmy Donaldson (“MrBeast”) dons an NFL blazer alongside Commissioner Roger Goodell and a stadium-sized roster of fellow creators-including Dude Perfect, IShowSpeed and Valkyrae-to imagine adding a 54th roster spot for YouTubers on every team. While Donaldson has not actually acquired the league, the tongue-in-cheek spot serves as the launchpad for an exclusive Week 1 matchup streaming live and free this Friday, September 5, on YouTube: the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil.
Simultaneously, the NFL dropped a new television commercial produced for its YouTube TV simulcast. The ad features MrBeast alongside streamers IShowSpeed and Sketch, each decked out in full NFL gear, promoting the revamped broadcast experience. Fans caught on to the concurrent announcement that the NFL’s RedZone channel will now include full-length commercial breaks-a change that drew immediate criticism from viewers during early screenings.
Together, these promotional efforts underscore a cultural pivot for the NFL as it embraces digital platforms and creator partnerships to expand its global footprint.
