China Commemorates 80th Anniversary of Victory Day with Grand Military Parade

Beijing, September 3, 2025 - Today, China marked the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War with a solemn and spectacular military parade on Chang’an Avenue, as covered by The Paper.
Under clear skies and to the strains of martial music, 45 formations of the People’s Liberation Army, including infantry, armor, and strategic missile units, marched past Tian’anmen Square in precise, modular contingents. For the first time, key components of China’s revamped military structure-such as advanced air-and-missile defense systems, unmanned aerial and counter-drone units, and new-generation strategic strike weapons-were presented to both domestic audiences and dignitaries from around the globe.
The procession began with veteran units carrying banners commemorating historic battles-such as the Battle of Yangxia and the Tiger Regiment-underscoring the inheritors of past heroism. This was followed by armored columns, squadron flyovers of modern fighter jets, and a finale featuring 12 transport vehicles bearing the “Dongfeng-5C” liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missiles, symbolizing China’s strategic deterrence capabilities.
Among the foreign guests in attendance were heads of state and government officials from five continents, reflecting international recognition of China’s wartime contributions and the global significance of the anniversary. The spectacle combined reverence for history with a declaration of national rejuvenation, as President Xi Jinping led calls for continued vigilance and unity in the face of future challenges.
The parade, described by The Paper as both a “magnificent review” and a “symphony of strength,” served not only as a tribute to past sacrifices but also as a statement of China’s evolving military prowess and its aspirations for peace through strength.
