Flood Warnings Issued Across Arizona and Northern India on September 4, 2025

Phoenix, AZ (September 4, 2025) - The National Weather Service in Phoenix has extended a Flash Flood Warning for the Phoenix metropolitan area as monsoon storms continue to produce heavy downpours, wind gusts, and dust storms across the Valley.
A warning remains in effect until 10:45 PM MST for Tempe and Guadalupe after thunderstorms rapidly developed over the region, producing localized flooding in low-lying neighborhoods and along major thoroughfares. Residents have been urged to avoid driving through flooded roadways, secure outdoor furniture, and monitor Riverside Drive, Mill Avenue, and Rio Salado Parkway for rising water. The City of Phoenix has also opened sandbag distribution sites at eight parks beginning 8 AM on Thursday to help residents protect properties.
Rupnagar, India (September 4, 2025) - District authorities in Rupnagar, Himachal Pradesh have issued a critical flood alert for villages along the Sutlej River following heavy monsoon rains that have raised water levels at the Bhakra Dam to near-danger thresholds.
Officials announced increased water releases from the dam to between 80,000 and 85,000 cusecs, up from 75,000 cusecs, and ordered immediate evacuation of low-lying communities in the Nangal subdivision-including Harsa Bela, Bela Ramgarh, and Sainsowal-and in the Sri Anandpur Sahib subdivision, including Burj, Chandpur Bela, and Shahpur Bela. Relief camps equipped with food, water, and medical supplies have been set up, and emergency response teams are on standby.
