Jujutsu Kaisen Spin-Off Manga “Mojuro” Confirmed for Launch

September 4, 2025, Tokyo - Mangaka Gege Akutami has officially confirmed that his long-teased new manga project, titled Mojuro (also dubbed Jujutsu Kaisen 3: Modulo), will serve as a spin-off sequel to the original Jujutsu Kaisen series. The announcement arrived today via multiple industry outlets and social media posts, sending waves of excitement through the global fan community.

Mojuro is slated to debut in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #41, with its first chapter scheduled for release on September 7, 2025. Intended as a short-term serialization, the series will span three volumes over approximately six months, pending audience reception.

Unlike a standalone one-shot, Mojuro picks up directly where the original manga concluded in September 2024. It introduces a new generation of protagonists-Yuta Okkotsu’s grandchildren, Okkotsu Tsurugi and Okkotsu Yuuka-as they navigate a world reshaped by the aftermath of the Culling Game. In a surprise confirmation, Akutami revealed that Yuta and Maki Zenin are now officially married, cementing the fan-favorite “YutaMaki” pairing as canon within the Jujutsu Kaisen universe.

Akutami emphasized his decision to personally oversee this project after turning down prior spin-off offers. “While serializing Jujutsu Kaisen, I received several proposals for side stories, but I was cautious about losing creative control,” he explained. “When this concept emerged-set in a parallel timeline and expanding the lore-I knew it was the right time”.

Illustrations for Mojuro will be handled by Yuji Iwasaki, known for his work on Cipher Academy, allowing Akutami to focus exclusively on writing. Fans can look forward to full-color spreads typical of Jump launches, with chapter lengths around 50 pages.
