New Jersey Teacher Julie Rizzitello Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault of Two Students

Wall Township, NJ - September 4, 2025 Julie Rizzitello, 37, a former English teacher at Wall Township High School, pleaded guilty last week to two counts of second-degree sexual assault involving teenage students in incidents that occurred in 2017 and 2024.

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Rizzitello was arrested in July 2024 after school officials reported inappropriate relations with an 18-year-old student. Prosecutors allege that between May and June 2024, Rizzitello engaged in sexual contact with the student in his vehicle in Brick Township, exchanged nude photographs, and met at various locations across Brick, Belmar, and Wall townships.

Following her arrest, a second victim came forward, revealing that Rizzitello had intercourse with him at her Brick Township residence in November 2017 and January 2018, when he was 17 years old. Investigators corroborated his account with text messages and photographs provided to law enforcement.

Wall Township Police Chief Sean O’Halloran condemned Rizzitello’s actions as “a betrayal of trust, not only to the victims, but to the entire school community,” and commended the victims’ courage and the efforts of law enforcement in securing justice.

Rizzitello resigned from her teaching position days before her arrest. Hired in 2013 at an annual salary of approximately $62,000, she taught ninth-grade English and SAT preparation courses. Under state guidelines and Megan’s Law, prosecutors will seek a 10-year term in state prison, mandatory registration as a sex offender, lifetime parole supervision, and a prohibition on holding public office. Rizzitello’s sentencing is scheduled for January 9, 2026.
