Powerball Jackpot Soars to $1.7 Billion After Another No-Winner Draw

The Powerball drawing held Wednesday night yielded no jackpot winner, causing the top prize to climb to an unprecedented $1.70 billion for the upcoming Saturday contest. The estimated cash value of the jackpot now stands at $770.3 million, making it the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.
Winning Numbers (September 3, 2025) 3 - 16 - 29 - 61 - 69 | Powerball: 22 (Power Play x2)
Despite the lack of a grand-prize winner, thousands of players nationwide secured secondary prizes. Eleven tickets matched all five white balls to win $1 million each, sold in California (2), Colorado, Florida, Georgia (2), Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. An additional four tickets-sold in Michigan, Oregon, Texas, and Wyoming-opted for the Power Play add-on and each won $2 million.
Lower-tier prizes included 117 tickets winning $50,000 (Match 4 + PB) and 36 tickets winning $100,000 (Match 4 + PB + Power Play). In total, more than 6.3 million tickets claimed cash prizes in last night’s drawing.
This marks the 42nd consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner, surpassing the previous record of 41. Lottery officials remind players that, while the odds of hitting the jackpot are exceedingly slim, there are far better chances of winning one of the many smaller prizes. The next Powerball drawing takes place Saturday, September 6, at 10:59 p.m. ET. Tickets cost $2 each, with the optional Power Play feature available for an extra $1.
