Sophie Turner Cast as Lara Croft in Prime Video’s Upcoming “Tomb Raider” Series

Los Angeles, September 4, 2025 - Prime Video has officially confirmed that Sophie Turner will star as Lara Croft in its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the Tomb Raider franchise. Turner, best known for her breakout role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, was revealed by Amazon Studios today in a joint statement alongside showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The announcement, made via Prime Video’s official social channels, marks a key milestone in the streamer’s strategy to expand its slate of prestige television series based on iconic video-game properties. In a brief teaser shared with the news, Turner appears in character training with dual pistols against a jungle backdrop, hinting at the show’s commitment to high-octane action and cinematic production values.

“We searched globally for an actress who could bring both vulnerability and fierce determination to Lara Croft,” said Waller-Bridge. “Sophie embodies the adventurous spirit and intelligence of the iconic Tomb Raider heroine, and we can’t wait to share her journey with Prime Video members.”

Production on the series is slated to begin this autumn at Pinewood Studios in London, with an ensemble cast that includes Idris Elba in an undisclosed role.
