TODAY Show Anchor Savannah Guthrie Headlines Thursday Morning Broadcast

NEW YORK, Sept. 4, 2025 - Savannah Guthrie co-anchored the 296th episode of TODAY’s 73rd season alongside Craig Melvin on Thursday, returning to Studio 1A after a brief absence due to a norovirus that swept through her family. Guthrie opened the show by thanking viewers for their well-wishes and confirming that everyone at home is now on the mend.
During the broadcast, Guthrie conducted an on-camera interview with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, pressing him on the longstanding rumor that pop star Taylor Swift might headline the Super Bowl halftime show in 2026. Goodell told Guthrie, “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent, and obviously she would be welcome at any time,” before teasing that final plans remain “in Jay-Z’s hands.”
The episode also featured live reports on Hurricane Lee’s trajectory along the East Coast and a profile of emerging climate-resilient farming techniques in the Midwest.
Coming up on Friday, Guthrie will sit down with TODAY co-host Sheinelle Jones for Jones’s first on-air interview since announcing her return to the program on September 5 following a nine-month leave.
