Paramount and Legendary Announce Global Distribution Deal for Live-Action “Street Fighter” Film

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4, 2025 - Paramount Pictures has signed a three-year worldwide distribution agreement with Legendary Entertainment, with Capcom-co-produced “Street Fighter” announced as the inaugural release under the pact. The live-action adaptation of the iconic video game franchise is currently in production and is slated to debut in IMAX® and conventional theaters on October 16, 2026.

The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai and set in 1993, the year Street Fighter II dominated arcades. The official logline reads: “Estranged fighters Ryu and Ken Masters are drawn back into combat when the enigmatic Chun-Li recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament-a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But a lethal conspiracy lurking behind the scenes forces them to confront their past demons, or it’s GAME OVER.”

A star-studded ensemble cast was revealed today, headlined by Andrew Koji as Ryu and Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, alongside Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog, and Jason Momoa as Blanka. Additional roles include Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, Alexander Volkanovski as Joe, Kyle Mooney as Marvin, and Mel Jarnson as Cammy.

Produced by Legendary Entertainment in partnership with Capcom, “Street Fighter” aims to honor the quarter-pumping, button-mashing spirit of the 1990s classic while offering a modern blockbuster spectacle. The film will be distributed internationally by Paramount, excluding China, where Legendary East will handle marketing and release duties.
