Meta CEO Pledges $600 Billion in U.S. Investments; Namesake Lawyer Sues Company

Washington, Sept. 5, 2025 - Meta Platforms Inc. (META) CEO Mark Zuckerberg told President Donald Trump today that his company will invest at least $600 billion in U.S. data centers and infrastructure through 2028, making it the largest private commitment at a White House tech-sector gathering this week. The announcement came during a dinner hosted by the president for leading Silicon Valley executives in the newly renovated Rose Garden, where Zuckerberg sat at Trump’s right and described the pledge as essential to “power the next wave of innovation.” Apple’s Tim Cook and Google’s Sundar Pichai also reaffirmed their firms’ multibillion-dollar investment plans in support of America’s artificial intelligence ambitions.
In a separate development today, an Indiana bankruptcy lawyer named Mark S. Zuckerberg filed suit against Meta in Marion Superior Court, claiming the social-media giant repeatedly suspended his personal and business Facebook accounts over the past eight years for alleged impersonation. The lawyer says Meta mistakenly deactivated his accounts five times, costing him about $11,000 in paid advertising and inflicting “significant business losses.” Meta has since acknowledged the errors, reinstated his accounts, and pledged to improve its identity-verification processes to prevent future mishaps.
