British Board of Film Classification Clears The Long Walk for Cinemas

LONDON, 5 September 2025 - The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) today granted certification for the theatrical release of The Long Walk, the upcoming dystopian horror thriller directed by Francis Lawrence and produced by Lionsgate UK Ltd. The decision covers the 2D cinema version, which has been cleared with content advisories for strong violence, injury detail and language.

Based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel (written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman), The Long Walk follows a group of young men forced into a deadly endurance contest: maintain a minimum walking pace or face lethal consequences. The film stars Cooper Hoffman as Raymond Garraty, alongside David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer and Mark Hamill in a supporting role.

Scheduled for release in the United States on 12 September 2025, The Long Walk represents Lionsgate’s latest foray into high-concept dystopian cinema, with industry expectations high following previews of intense and harrowing footage.
