Trump Delivers Remarks, Unveils Faith Initiatives at Museum of the Bible

President Donald Trump spoke this morning to the White House Religious Liberty Commission at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., donating his family Bible for public display and launching the “America Prays” initiative tied to the nation’s 250th birthday.
The address underscored the administration’s focus on religious freedom and faith’s role in public life, as Trump pledged new guidance to protect prayer in public schools and called on Americans to unite in weekly national prayers.
Faith in the Capitol
Trump opened by emphasizing America’s foundation on faith and warned that weakening religious heritage endangers national strength. He then presented the Trump family Bible-used at both of his inaugurations-to the museum’s collection, calling it a symbol of the country’s spiritual roots.
White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers framed the event as the launch of America Prays, a faith-driven program inviting citizens to weekly prayers for the nation’s well-being and commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence.
New School Prayer Guidance
During his remarks, Trump announced that the Department of Education will soon issue new directives safeguarding students’ right to prayer in public schools, noting today’s classrooms lack the Bible’s historic presence and warning of “anti-religious indoctrination”.
Commission and Cultural Review
The session convened at 10:10 a.m. ET with commission members-including Ben Carson and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick-discussing emerging threats to First Amendment protections in education and beyond.
Trump’s visit coincides with a broader review of Smithsonian museums aimed at promoting “American exceptionalism,” removing what his administration views as divisive narratives, and restoring confidence in cultural institutions.
- Commission Members: Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, Dr. Ben Carson, Paula White
