Apple Unveils Apple Watch Ultra 3 with Satellite SOS and 42-Hour Battery

Apple introduced the Apple Watch Ultra 3 today in Cupertino, California, adding satellite emergency messaging, 5G cellular, and a 42-hour battery life to its flagship adventure smartwatch. The Ultra 3 also boasts the largest display ever on an Apple Watch and new health features, including hypertension notifications, ahead of its September 19 release.

Apple’s latest Ultra model bridges the gap between outdoor sports gear and everyday health companion by integrating built-in satellite communications for Emergency SOS, messaging, and location sharing when off the grid. With a brighter, wider‐angle OLED LTPO3 display and 5G connectivity, the Ultra 3 enhances both visibility and data speeds for users in remote environments.

Key enhancements in the Apple Watch Ultra 3 include:

  • Satellite SOS via Globalstar for off-grid emergency messaging and Find My support at no extra cost for two years
  • A 49 mm titanium case with the thinnest bezels yet, delivering the largest screen area in Apple Watch history
  • Up to 42 hours of normal use battery life, extending to 72 hours in Low Power Mode
  • 5G cellular capabilities alongside the most accurate GPS in a sports watch
  • Hypertension notifications to alert users of potential high blood pressure, pending FDA clearance, and an Apple Intelligence-powered Workout Buddy in watchOS 26

Pre-orders begin today, with availability at Apple Stores and authorized retailers on September 19. The Ultra 3 starts at $799 and comes in natural and black titanium finishes, accompanied by new band options optimized for adventure and daily wear.
