Samsung today introduced its AI-powered Smart Modular Home at IFA 2025, secured its first BSI IT Security Label for home appliances, and rolled out enhanced Galaxy AI privacy controls.

Smart Modular Home Debuts at IFA 2025

  • Samsung revealed its Smart Modular Home, combining AI-enabled appliances, high-efficiency HVAC systems, and SmartThings/SmartThings Pro connectivity into a pre-built, modular residential solution.
  • Features include a 3D Map View for real-time appliance status, smart security cameras and locks at the entrance, and automated climate and lighting adjustments triggered by user presence.
  • SmartThings Energy optimizes power use by scheduling appliances during off-peak hours, while EHS heat pumps manage underfloor heating, cooling, and hot water.
  • A dedicated Game Mode synchronizes LED lighting, temperature, and audio for immersive home entertainment experiences.

First BSI IT Security Label for Samsung Home Appliances

  • The Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra robot vacuum and Bespoke AI Refrigerator earned the highest “Standard” grade under KISA’s IoT Cybersecurity Certification and became the first Samsung appliances to receive the BSI IT Security Label through a Korea-Germany mutual recognition arrangement.
  • The arrangement allows KISA-certified products to carry equivalent BSI labeling, expediting market access and boosting cross-border trust.
  • Enhanced security features include Knox Matrix Trust Chain for real-time device integrity monitoring and Knox Vault for isolating sensitive user data in a secure chip.

Galaxy AI Privacy Controls Enhance Transparency and Choice

  • Samsung introduced Advanced Intelligence settings within Galaxy AI, enabling users to toggle online processing, control data retention, and manage permissions through a unified Security and Privacy dashboard.
  • On-device AI features such as Live Translate, Interpreter, and Audio Eraser ensure personal data remains local, while cloud-based processing for intensive tasks is confined to user-approved settings.
  • Auto Blocker and Maximum Restrictions offer proactive defense against malware, unauthorized installations, and network-based threats, safeguarding both data and device integrity.
