King Princess Unleashes Third Album “Girl Violence” with Global Tattoo Event

Lead: Brooklyn singer-songwriter King Princess released her third album, Girl Violence, today, premiering raw pop anthems and launching a worldwide flash tattoo collaboration to celebrate the record’s queer-driven themes.
Nut Graf: Girl Violence marks Mikaela Straus’s bold return after leaving her major-label deal and navigating heartbreak, blending garage-pop grit with introspective lyricism. The album’s release is underscored by a global flash tattoo event partnering with LGBTQ+-run shops, reinforcing the artist’s commitment to community empowerment and queer visibility.
Album Release and Themes
King Princess unveiled Girl Violence on September 12 via Section 1, delivering 13 tracks that confront emotional turmoil with unapologetic candor. Produced alongside Jake Portrait and Aire Atlantica, the record explores the aftermath of a toxic relationship, personal reinvention, and the exhilaration of queer solidarity.
Straus channels dualities-pain and pleasure, chaos and clarity-across songs like “RIP KP,” a self-destructive breakup anthem, and the moody organ-driven ballad “Girls,” which scrutinizes unhealthy desire.
Global Flash Tattoo Event
To commemorate the release, King Princess partnered with tattoo shops run by women and LGBTQ+ artists across North America, Europe, LATAM, and Australia for a one-day flash tattoo event on September 13:
- Custom flash sheets inspired by Girl Violence’s visual world
- Raffle entry for signed vinyl, exclusive merch, and show guest-list spots
- Donations to local LGBTQ+ charities from each participating shop
Spotlight Interview and Media
NPR’s All Things Considered featured an in-depth conversation with King Princess today, where Straus reflected on reclaiming creative control and the catharsis of writing for herself: “I truly broke up with the concept that I should be writing for anyone but myself”.
Paste Magazine lauded Girl Violence as “feral and fearless,” praising its blend of raw honesty and pop-punk riffs that elevate Straus’s status as a provocateur and pop icon.
Tour Dates and Future Plans
Alongside today’s release, King Princess announced fall tour dates beginning in Dublin on December 3, with stops across the UK and Europe. Further North American shows will be announced soon, promising live renditions of Girl Violence’s standout tracks.
With Girl Violence, King Princess stakes a claim as a fearless voice in modern pop, wielding emotional complexity and queer empowerment as her creative weapons.
