Vince Neil Reveals Christmas Stroke, Kicks Off Vegas Residency Tonight

Lead: Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil disclosed that he suffered a stroke on December 26, 2024, forcing him to relearn walking and delaying the band’s Las Vegas residency, which begins tonight at Dolby Live.

Nut Graf: Neil’s unexpected health crisis led to the postponement of the Park MGM residency from spring to September 12-October 3, highlighting his determination and months-long rehabilitation before returning to the stage.

Health Scare and Recovery

Vince Neil, 64, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he awoke on December 26 with his entire left side numb. “I had a stroke,” he said, recounting how he went from being bedridden to using a wheelchair, then a walker, and finally a cane during intensive physical therapy in Nashville.

He insisted to doubtful doctors, “No, no, I’m going to do it. Just wait and see.” After months of ladder drills and running exercises prescribed by a local football coach, Neil says he’s “90-95 percent” back to his pre-stroke condition.

Residency Postponement and Rescheduled Dates

Originally slated for March 28-April 19, 2025, the residency at Dolby Live was pushed to September and October after Neil’s “required medical procedure” and ensuing therapy. Tickets from the original dates remain valid for the new slate of performances.

Back on Stage

Tonight marks the first of 10 shows in Las Vegas, with additional dates on September 13, 17, 19, 24, 26, 27 and October 1 and 3. Neil made a brief solo comeback on August 2 at Boston’s MGM Music Hall, signaling his readiness to rejoin Mötley Crüe for their long-awaited shows.

Band’s Support and Future Plans

Bandmates Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and guitarist John 5 publicly backed Neil’s recovery, emphasizing that his health was the top priority. Ahead of the residency, Mötley Crüe released a greatest-hits compilation, From the Beginning, to celebrate their legacy and set the stage for Neil’s full return.
