Teenager Charged After Stabbing at Moree Motel

Lead A 13-year-old boy has been charged with reckless wounding after allegedly stabbing a 52-year-old man at a Moree motel on Alice Street in the early hours of Sunday, September 14, 2025, police say.

The injured man was treated on-site before being transported to hospital in stable condition, highlighting ongoing concerns over juvenile involvement in violent crime in regional communities.

Motel Stabbing Details Police were called just before 1 a.m. after reports that five individuals had broken into the room. Confronted by the 52-year-old, an altercation ensued and the man sustained stab wounds. Four suspects fled; emergency services treated the victim and he was taken to hospital.

Arrest and Charges A 13-year-old was apprehended at the scene and later charged with reckless wounding, disguised with intent to commit a serious offence, aggravated break-and-enter and breach of bail. He was refused bail and is due before the children’s court on September 18, 2025.
