Dying Light: The Beast Launches Early After Million Pre-Orders

Techland advances September 18 release date by one day to celebrate milestone, begins preloading today.

Developer Techland surprised fans today by announcing that Dying Light: The Beast will launch on September 18, 2025-one day earlier than originally planned-after the survival horror game crossed the milestone of one million pre-orders. The game’s preload began today, September 16, on all platforms.

Developer Celebrates Pre-Order Success

“Seeing the excitement from our community for the return of Kyle Crane in Dying Light: The Beast, and knowing the game is ready, we wanted to do something special for our players,” said franchise director Tymon Smektała. “We pushed ourselves to make the impossible possible, and that’s why we’re releasing the game a little earlier.”

The global launch will occur simultaneously across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S at 9:00 AM PDT (6:00 PM CEST, 5:00 PM BST). Console versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are scheduled to arrive later in 2025.

Pre-Order Rewards and Technical Details

To thank fans for the milestone achievement, Techland announced that all players who pre-order before launch will receive an exclusive APEX car skin featuring a glow-in-the-dark design. This bonus will be available on September 20, shortly after the game’s release.

The game requires approximately 39 GB for download, with the final installation needing around 60 GB of storage space. Pre-loading is now available on Xbox and began today for other platforms.

Return of Kyle Crane

Dying Light: The Beast marks the return of Kyle Crane, the protagonist from the original 2015 game, after his fate remained unclear following the events of Dying Light: The Following. The standalone title sees Crane escaping after 13 years of experimentation by the mysterious Baron, setting up a revenge story in the new location of Castor Woods.

Originally conceived as downloadable content for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, the project evolved into a full standalone release priced at $59.99. Players who own the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 will receive the game at no additional cost.

The game promises approximately 20 hours of main story content, with additional side activities extending playtime for completionist players.
