Salad and Go Shutters Nearly All Texas Drive-Thrus to Refocus Brand

Lead Salad and Go announced today it will close all 41 of its Houston locations and a handful of stores across Austin, San Antonio and the Dallas-Fort Worth area by Sept. 19, refocusing resources on core markets and strengthening the fast-casual chain.
Nut Graf The Dallas-based drive-thru salad concept is pulling back from its most aggressive expansion, citing rising operating costs and the need to prioritize profitability as economic pressures weigh on the dining sector.
Major Closures Across Texas
- Houston Exit - All Salad and Go outlets inside and outside the Loop will shutter, affecting dozens of employees.
- Central Texas Impact - Locations in Austin and San Antonio are set to close, with remaining Dallas-Fort Worth stores uncertain.
- Nationwide Footprint - Pre-closure, the chain operated 140 sites across Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma and Nevada.
CEO Perspective Mike Tattersfield, CEO since April, told QSR Magazine the downsizing “will allow us to refocus efforts and strengthen the brand,” overturning the previous growth strategy of opening up to one new store per week.
Industry Context This retrenchment follows a challenging year for fast-casual and quick-service restaurants facing inflation and supply-chain cost hikes. Salad and Go’s rapid 2022-24 expansion under former CEO Charlie Morrison proved unsustainable in some Texas markets.
Next Steps Remaining Salad and Go locations will continue operations, with executives evaluating further regional adjustments. Franchisees and staff have been offered transition support, and corporate says guests can expect enhanced menu innovations in stabilized markets.
