McLlachlan Shines on GMA, Readies ‘Better Broken’ Release
Sarah McLachlan performed her new single “Gravity” live on Good Morning America in New York this morning and detailed her longtime bond with the ASPCA ahead of her first album in 11 years, Better Broken, due Friday.
In a People magazine interview, McLachlan explained that her iconic ASPCA PSA left audiences with a darker impression of her than her upbeat personality and emphasized the good it accomplished, raising millions for animal welfare. Tomorrow’s album launch marks a major return for the three-time Grammy winner after a decade focused on family and philanthropy.
Promotion Push Ahead of Album Launch
- Live on GMA, McLachlan delivered a stirring rendition of “Gravity,” showcasing the emotive vocals that define her legacy and previewing the intimate sound of Better Broken.
- In conversation with the AP, she reflected on nearly losing her voice to a viral infection during last winter’s Canadian tour rehearsals, calling her recovery “a miracle” that allowed her to complete the record.
Reflecting on a Storied Career
- McLachlan revealed that although Better Broken was initially intended as a swan song, working with a new team rekindled her creative spark, producing 11 songs spanning over a decade of writing.
- She credited her music education charity, the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, with grounding her through years spent raising two daughters and fundraising free music programs for youth.
Legacy Festival and Tour Plans
- Later this month, CBC Gem will debut Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery, a documentary chronicling McLachlan’s all-female festival phenomenon, reflecting on its lasting impact on women in music.
- McLachlan will launch her Better Broken Tour November 16 in Washington, D.C., visiting nine major U.S. cities and pledging to bring healing through song on stage.

- Better Broken arrives September 19 via Concord Records, followed by TV performances on Live with Kelly and Mark and Nightline.
- Presale tickets for her U.S. tour open September 23, with general on-sale September 26.
