UNCW Campus Threat Prompts Evacuations, Later All Clear

UNCW University Police responded to an unconfirmed report of a gunman on campus early Sept. 18, temporarily evacuating Randall and Discovery Halls before declaring an all-clear later that morning.
Reports of a potential shooter in Wilmington, N.C., prompted swift action by UNCW Police and the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, underscoring the university’s commitment to student safety and rapid threat mitigation.

- 12:15 a.m.: UNCW Police receive a threat of an armed individual on campus.
- 12:30 a.m.: Randall and Discovery Halls are evacuated as a precautionary measure.
