Phoenix registered a high of 100°F with scattered thundershowers and a low of 83°F Friday, as residents experienced fleeting storm cells under clear skies in between downpours.
The late-monsoon season delivered brief but intense storms across the Valley of the Sun, offering a welcome break from relentless heat and underscoring ongoing flash-flood risks in urban washes.
Morning Conditions Shortly after sunrise at 6:14 a.m., skies were partly cloudy with temperatures climbing through the mid-80s. A gentle breeze from the southeast at 4 mph kept humidity around 46% early on, before southeast-moving cumulonimbus clouds signaled approaching showers.
Afternoon Showers By early afternoon, thermometers peaked at 100°F. Scattered thundershowers developed between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., producing brief downpours and isolated lightning strikes across metro Phoenix. The National Weather Service recorded a 59% chance of precipitation, with about 0.05” of rain in spots.
Evening and Overnight Outlook After sunset at 6:28 p.m., thunderstorms persisted in outlying areas. The Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport reported mostly cloudy conditions with residual storm activity and a temperature of 79°F at 11:51 p.m.. Overnight lows are expected to remain near 83°F, with muggy conditions continuing into Saturday morning.
