Meta Unveils Next-Gen Ray-Ban Meta Glasses with Display and AI Upgrades

Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses line received its most significant update yet today, as the company introduced the Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses featuring an in-lens HUD, advanced AI controls and a companion neural wristband.

The announcement, made at Meta’s annual Connect developer conference in Menlo Park, underscores the tech giant’s push to make AI eyewear a mainstream device by blending iconic Ray-Ban designs with cutting-edge augmented reality features.

New In-Lens Display and Neural Band Control

Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses embed a discreet, high-resolution screen in the right lens, allowing users to view notifications, live translations and simple app interfaces without glancing at their phones. A lightweight Meta Neural Band wristband captures subtle hand gestures via electromyography (EMG), enabling hands-free navigation of on-screen menus.

AI-Driven “Personal Superintelligence”

During today’s keynote, CEO Mark Zuckerberg described the new glasses as the “ideal form factor for personal superintelligence,” highlighting features such as real-time conversation focus to amplify voices in noisy environments and AI-powered heads-up translations that display subtitles directly in the lens.

Battery Life and Availability

Priced from $799, Meta Ray-Ban Display ships with a charging case and offers up to six hours of mixed-use battery life, extendable to 30 hours on the go. Preorders begin September 30 at select U.S. retailers including Best Buy, LensCrafters and Ray-Ban stores, with in-person fitting required for prescription lenses.

Expanded Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) Lineup

Alongside the Display model, Meta detailed new Gen 2 Ray-Ban Meta glasses with double the battery life (up to eight hours), 3K ultra-HD video capture at 60 fps and enhanced AI features like hyperlapse and slow-motion recording. The Gen 2 range, available now at $379, will expand to additional markets in Europe and Brazil this fall.
