Bengals Outlast Commanders 31–17 in Preseason Rematch

LANDOVER, Md. - The Cincinnati Bengals won their second preseason game 31–17 against the Washington Commanders on Monday night at Northwest Stadium. They showed strong scoring drives and promising depth in their performance.

Joe Burrow led two touchdown drives before leaving in the first half. He went 9-for-14 for 62 yards. He also guided a nine-play, 58-yard drive that ended with a 1-yard touchdown run by Chase Brown on fourth-and-goal. Evan McPherson added a 54-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to seal the win for Cincinnati.

Washington’s only bright spot was rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. He led a quick four-play, 74-yard drive. Deebo Samuel had a 19-yard run, and Chris Rodriguez Jr. added a 40-yarder. Daniels then scrambled 14 yards for a touchdown without throwing a single pass. Jacory Croskey-Merritt made an impact with a quick 27-yard rushing touchdown. He ended the game with 46 yards on 11 carries.

In the second quarter, Jake Browning, the backup quarterback, linked up with Mitchell Tinsley for two touchdown passes. One was 13 yards, and the other was 21 yards. This showed off Cincinnati’s strong receiver depth. The Bengals’ defense kept Washington to only one field goal in the second half. Matt Gay made it from 27 yards.

Key developments and notes:
