Brewers-Cubs Doubleheader Update – August 19, 2025

The Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers are in a tight NL Central race. Their night game on August 18 was postponed due to rain. It will now be played on Tuesday as part of a split doubleheader at Wrigley Field. Game 1 on Monday afternoon saw a strong 7–0 win for the Brewers. Freddy Peralta pitched six scoreless innings. Brice Turang and Caleb Durbin each hit a solo homer.

Tuesday’s twinbill opens at 1:20 p.m. CT, with the Brewers sending Chad Patrick (3–7, 3.52 ERA) to the mound against Cubs right-hander Matthew Boyd (11–6, 2.46 ERA). Milwaukee has a record of 79–45 and a .333 on-base percentage, placing second in MLB. Chicago, on the other hand, is 38–24 at home and 70–54 overall. They have a strong 54–11 record when they out-hit their opponents.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell praised the Brewers for their recent success but is confident in his own team. He said, “We know we’ve got a very good baseball team here.” We’ll be ready to go this afternoon.” Both teams aim to bounce back and gain an edge in the division. They will play five games in four days during this key series.
