Chris Pratt shows support for his cousin-in-law, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., on the “Club Random” podcast

NEW YORK - On Monday, Chris Pratt, star of “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World,” praised his cousin-in-law, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He called him “funny” and “wonderful.” Pratt also expressed hope for bipartisan success on important initiatives. Pratt shared his thoughts on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast. They recorded it on August 18, and it aired on August 19.
Pratt, 46, shared that his bond with Kennedy Jr. comes from family events, not politics. ““I’ve spent a number of occasions hanging with him in a strictly family dinner kind of vibe,” Pratt said. ““I really got along with him well. I think he’s great. I think he’s funny. I like him. I love him.”
Despite Kennedy’s controversial role in the Trump administration, Pratt urged a more pragmatic approach among partisans. He pointed out that some HHS efforts, like removing “terrible, toxic stuff out of our kids’ food,” have strong bipartisan support. These efforts deserve recognition, no matter the political side. ““I’d hate to be so stuck in hatred for the president that I can’t see any success from his administration,” Pratt said with a laugh. ““Be reasonable here. There are certain things that would be a good thing to have. I want them all to be successful.”
Pratt’s comments came during a time of closer look at Kennedy’s policies. This includes the “Make America Healthy Again” commission, which focuses on school fitness tests and changes to food additive regulations. The actor didn’t endorse specific policies, but his defense shows personal loyalty. This loyalty comes from family ties—Pratt is married to Katherine Schwarzenegger. Her mother, Maria Shriver, is Kennedy Jr.’s first cousin.
On air with Maher, Pratt pointed out the gap between personal impressions and how the media depicts them. ““Politics is a tough game,” he said, noting that what people see often differs from what’s true. He noted that he doesn’t press Kennedy on policy details during their time together. He prefers to stay positive and “wish him well.”
