Hollie Strano Returns to Northeast Ohio Airwaves with Mix 94.1 Weather Forecasts

CANTON, Ohio (August 19, 2025) – Hollie Strano, an Emmy-winning meteorologist and mental health advocate, has started her new job. She will deliver daily weather forecasts for Mix 94.1 in Canton, Stark County. She shared the news today.

Strano worked at Cleveland’s NBC affiliate WKYC for 22 years. She left in September 2024. Now, she will give live weather updates every hour from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day. She’ll broadcast from her hometown of Lyndhurst, Ohio.

““Let’s do this Stark County! So much love for you, Canton! “Thank you for having me,” Strano posted on social media. The station’s welcome message praised her “radiant positivity, resilience, and realness.” It also highlighted her twenty years of on-air experience.

Her return to local media follows a period of broader radio work and podcasting. In July, Strano began supplying forecasts to stations in Georgia and Alabama. She is the host of the podcast Abruptly Authentic. In it, she explores sobriety, mental health, and personal growth with various guests.

Strano’s tenure at WKYC ended after her November 2023 DUI arrest and a guilty plea led to her wrongful dismissal. She claims this happened after she shared her recovery journey publicly. In December 2024, she sued WKYC and its parent company, Tegna. She claims her termination violated her rights. The case is still pending.

Today, Mix 94.1 announced that Hollie Strano is back in action. She’s reaching out to Northeast Ohio audiences again. Her mission is to combine weather science with community wellness advocacy.
