Authorities said today that Jasveen Sangha, 42, also called the “Ketamine Queen,” will plead guilty. She faces five federal charges. These charges are linked to her providing the ketamine that resulted in actor Matthew Perry’s death in October 2023. Sangha has been charged with maintaining a drug-involved premises, three counts of ketamine distribution, and one count of distributing ketamine that led to death or serious injury.
The Justice Department reports that Sangha ran a large drug operation from her North Hollywood home. During a raid in March 2023, agents found 79 vials of liquid ketamine, methamphetamine, and other drugs. Prosecutors say Sangha and Erik Fleming sold 51 vials of ketamine to Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry’s assistant. Some of this was injected into Perry on the day he died from acute ketamine toxicity.
Sangha admitted in her plea agreement that she took part in Perry’s death. She also sold four vials of ketamine to Cody McLaury in August 2019. He died later from an overdose linked to the drug. Federal agents referred to Sangha’s operation as a “drug-selling emporium.” They observed her using encrypted messaging apps for her deals. She called her supplier a “master chef” or “scientist” in coded language.
Sangha was the last of the five people charged in Perry’s death to agree to a plea deal. The other four are Perry’s assistant Iwamasa, clinic owner Dr. Salvador Plasencia, drug distributor Erik Fleming, and physician Dr. Mark Chavez. They have all pleaded guilty to different charges in this case.
Under her agreement, Sangha could get up to 20 years for the premises charge. She faces up to 10 years for each distribution count and up to 15 years for the ketamine-death count. If prosecutors pursue the maximum, she could be sentenced to 65 years total. Sentencing is scheduled following her formal plea hearing in the coming weeks.
Mark Geragos, Sangha’s attorney, said, “She’s taking responsibility for her actions.” His client is getting ready to enter a guilty plea before a federal judge in Los Angeles.
